Saturday is Record Store Day, an annual celebration of the unique culture surrounding independent record stores in the U.S. and internationally. You may have heard that Jack White’s Nashville Label Third Man Records is re-releasing Elvis Presley’s earliest recording ‘My Happiness,’ on a facsimile of the original 10″ 78rpm disk created at Sun Studios in Memphis in 1953.

For one day only, the exact Rek-O-Kut direct to disk recorder that was used to record the above-mentioned song will be united with the original disk of ‘My Happiness’ for the first time since the record was cut, and will be on display at Third Man Records tomorrow for Record Store Day. These two items are arguably the most important pieces of rock and roll in the world.
