all star jam

The All Star Jam was exactly that…a who’s who of some of the most talented musicians in the world lined up to entertain those lucky enough to witness history in the making. It was a jam in the true sense of the word, each musician walked on stage and simply started to play having never rehearsed or performed together.

Musicians who performed were, Will Lee (session bassist and “The Late Show with David Letterman” band member), Danny Seraphine (founding member and original drummer of Chicago), David Hungate (session bassist and founding member of Toto), Brent Mason (first call Nashville session guitarist), John Hobbs (session keyboardist, producer and musical director for the Academy of Country Music Award Shows), Felix Cavalieri (lead singer, keyboardist, and founding member of the Rascals), Garry Tallent (bassist E-Street Band and producer), Charlie McCoy (original member of the ‘Nashville A Team’ and musical director for Hee Haw, harmonica), Wayne Jackson (founding member of Memphis Horns, trumpet and arranger), Craig Krampf (L.A. session drummer and producer), and Vince Gill (guitarist and singer).

One of the highlights of the evening was the appearance of the original Motown Funk Brothers, Uriel Jones (drums), Bob Babbitt (bass), Eddie Willis (guitar) and Joe Messina. Messina who is now retired was in attendance but did not perform. Joining the Funk Brothers on stage was Brent Mason, Will Lee, Craig Krampf and Danny Seraphine. Marcia Ware took the stage and amazed the audience with a powerful vocal performance. It was the perfect way to initiate the stage in the new Performance Hall.
